Day 39 - Homer, AK to Seward, AK

Saturday, July 16, 2011 - Day 39
Homer to Seward
by:  Ron and Cindy Robinett, #18

On Saturday, July 16th, we woke up to beautiful blue skies in the quaint little village of Homer surrounded by water and snow capped mountains. We had spent four wonderful days here but now it was time to move on to Seward.  Watching as Mel & Dot loaded up to head up the road made me kind of sad because this was such a beautiful stop for all of us. I couldn’t imagine we would see anything more splendid.

It didn’t take very long though to see that I was mistaken.  The ride of 162 miles to Seward was absolutely breathtaking. Everywhere we looked was yet another beautiful sight.  I just kept saying. “WOW!”  Ron & I stopped and took a couple of pictures of the lighthouse and the mountains. Having the sun shining down on us makes everything so much brighter! What a blessed travel day we had!!

We reached the Stoney Creek Campground around 2:30 pm. Once again the mountains are surrounding the camp and we have a babbling creek right beside us.  At any one time we can look up and see an eagle soaring over our head. How can we not like these campgrounds??

After everyone got into camp and  set up we then had our travel briefing to  Palmer with Ken & Carol. Also, it was time for Buddy Bear to move on so Jackie & Don bestowed it to Jackie & Ron. Following the briefing we had our social hour where we all partook of some yummy treats. After the social we called it a day and everyone went their own way.
