Day 2 - Travel Day from Great Falls, Montana to Hill Spring, Alberta, Canada

Today was our first day on the road, going “north to Alaska”.  Eventually we will get there. Things went pretty smoothly getting out of the campground this morning.  Everyone was anxious to get going.  We did have a couple little hiccups; a dead truck battery, someone taking a wrong turn, but nothing that couldn’t be rectified quickly.  Not bad for the first time!

We drove past rolling hills and farmlands on our way to the border.  The border crossing was uneventful for us.  I believe most of us had no problems getting through customs.  We came through just behind #16, George and Winifred Meiser.

We stopped en route at the Alberta Visitor Center.  We looked at some of the displays there in the small museum housed in the building.  Outside they have a large dinosaur and some miniature badlands and hoodoos.  It was a nice break from driving so long.  We had a little fun there with George and Winifred, taking photos of each other.

What, exactly, is he looking at?

Just a short distance from the campground we spotted George’s motorhome parked right in the middle of the road, with Winifred out taking pictures of an Osprey that had just flown out of it’s nest.  It soared around for a while, letting us take photos.

Beautiful Osprey
Everybody was in the campground when we arrived, and had already started the social hour without us.  We joined the group and related the events of the day.  Several people saw deer, foxes, and various other critters along the way.  Best thing of all……..the sun was shining here!  Tomorrow should be another dry day according to the forecast.  Hope so.

day's end.........
