By Ken Carpenter and Karla Rader
Well we woke up to a chilly gray day with a slight rain drizzle.
It is our travel day to
Calgary.
It is a great day for driving.
Bert, Carol, Karla and I decided to pass up the stop at
Fort McLeod in favor of a stop at the
Lancaster Bomber Command Museum in
Nanton, Alberta.
That decision was a very good decision. The Bomber Command Museum is a very nice Museum done much like the US Air Force Museum in Dayton , Ohio. The Bomber Command Museum commemorates the RAF (Royal Air Force) during WWII. The Bomber Command Museum focuses on the role of the Lancaster Bomber and their crew during WWII. The Lancaster Bomber is the RAF equivalent of the US Air Force B-25 and B-17 Bombers and played a very important role in the Allie defeat of the Germans.
The remainder of the day was spent driving through very beautiful rolling country with large ranches and farms with the Canadian Rockies as a backdrop.
