Tuesday 6/28 Dawson City by: Bruce and Roni Wilczynski #22
It is a free day and everyone is doing their own thing except for being on the internet or making phone calls, as the entire area was down due to a storm last night. Madi organized a get together for the ladies to make USA pins using safety pins and red, white and blue beads.

Some people went to tour Dredge #4, the largest wooden hull dredge in North America. Mining in all its forms remains the #1 industry in the Yukon Territory. As it is written, one end of the Dredge picks up the gravel from the creek bed, the middle washes it with water and separates out the gold, and the other end discards the waste rock and water. The guide was very informative and enjoyed by all that went on the tour.

Most of us walked around town and toured the various museums, such as the Robert Service Cabin, Jack London Museum and the Dawson City Museum. They were all very interesting and housed a lot of artifacts from the Gold Rush Days. I didn’t hear of anyone getting inducted into the club at the Sourdough Saloon. The process involves drinking the Sourtoe Cocktail. Of course, we checked out more restaurants and pubs. The Drunken Goat Tavern had excellent Greek food.

A group of us took the George Black Ferry for a ride across the river in the evening. We tried to surprise George and Winifred who already setup their RV on the other side of the river, but George saw us coming. Enjoyed a glass of wine, and shared more stories in their RV. We then brought them back w/us to enjoy another show at Diamond Tooth Gerties. Gertie sang to Gilbert during the performance.
