Summer has finally arrived! Today we journeyed from Palmer to Valdez to the north of the Chugach Mountains. The sun shone on the vibrant green landscape, with snow-covered peaks, sparkling road-side streams, glorious waterfalls, and abundant fireweed en route.
The Matanuska Glacier, about an hour east of Palmer, AK, is a spectacular sight.

Worthington Glacier, approaching Thompson Pass, is beautiful. It cascades from the mountains almost to the highway.
Valdez Harbor is a sight to behold with the summer sun still painting the surrounding mountains at nine in the evening.
Even after seeing so much of the beauty of This Great Land, the scenery continues to take our breath away. We are also very fortunate to be experiencing all this with a wonderful group of travelers.
Following the descent from Thompson Pass through Keystone Canyon we were greeted by a set of lovely waterfalls. We arrived in the port of Valdez to find it was 71 degrees outside!
